ZKB and daura examine a potential cooperation in the field of digital shares

Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB), one of the leading Swiss banks, and daura AG, the leading digital share platform for Swiss SMEs, will evaluate the possibility of a strategic cooperation in the coming weeks.

Over the past months, the Zürcher Kantonalbank has been investigating the topic of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) as part of an internal exploration phase and has identified use cases with potential for the bank. One use case aims to support business customers in share register management, fundraising and the holding of general meetings.

daura AG, a joint venture of SIX, Swisscom, Sygnum Bank and the lawyers Luka Müller (MME) and Christian Wenger (Wenger & Vieli), enables unlisted companies to issue shares digitally, hold general meetings online and provides a platform for the digital share register. Daura is designed as an open ecosystem partner and provides its services to banks and marketplaces.

In a next step, ZKB will work with daura to examine the feasibility and marketability of issuing digital shares based on block chain technology. The focus will be on the registration of selected corporate clients (SMEs and/or start-ups) of ZKB on the daura platform.

daura has extensive know-how in tokenization of Swiss SME shares, in the digital execution of capital increases and general meetings as well as in the management of the share register. daura brings this knowledge to the project.

«We are pleased to be able to conduct a feasibility study with ZKB as one of the leading banks in the Swiss SME segment. The fact that now also established banks are dealing with the topic is a clear sign with regards to the marketability and adaptation of shares on the Blockchain», says Peter Schnürer, CEO of daura AG.

«The needs of our customers are our focus. It is therefore important to us to offer beneficial and modern solutions for our SME customers. Together with daura, we are now taking the opportunity to examine the potential of DLT for SMEs in the coming weeks», says Patric Koch, Market Area Manager Corporate Clients Zurich-City of Zürcher Kantonalbank.
